IM-Magic Partition Resizer Updates to v2.1 – Convert MBR to GPT Disk

July 30, 2014 – IM-Magic Inc. has released the IM-Magic Partition Resizer v2.1 for Windows users to convert MBR to GPT disk whenever they want.

 

Convert MBR to GPT Disk
IM-Magic Partition Resizer v2.1 is able to convert MBR to GPT disk on Windows system. All Windows operating system can support MBR disk, but MBR disk has its own shortcoming, so some users may need to convert MBR disk to GPT disk in following situations:

• You need to convert MBR to GPT when disk size is larger than 2TB. MBR only supports disk size up to 2TB, while GPT disk supports disk size up to 18EB.
• You need to convert MBR to GPT disk when more than 4 primary partitions need to be created. MBR only supports to create 4 primary partitions, while GPT disk supports to create 128 primary partitions.

 

About GPT Disk
GPT disk supports unlimited partition size and unlimited number of partitions, but many Windows operating systems cannot support GPT disk. Users can only boot from a GPT disk on Windows 7, Windows vista, Windows XP 64 bit, Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Windows Server 2008. Therefore, if your computer is running Windows system that cannot support GPT disk, you cannot convert MBR to GPT disk.

 

Pay Attention

You cannot convert GPT disk back to MBR once the hard disk has been converted, so please think it twice before converting MBR to GPT disk.
