Case #1: Two partitions on the disk – How to merge the C and E or D drive into one volume without losing data

Note: When the OS drive, such as the C volume, is involved in the process, all partitions can only be merged into the C drive.

Main steps:

  • 1. Right-click a partition in Partition Resizer, then choose the option "Merge Partition".open partition manager
  • 2. Select two partitions to start merging.open partition manager
  • 3. Click APPLY CHANGES in the software to complete the merge. (All previous steps can be undone if you have not clicked the APPLY CHANGES button in the software.)

Case #2: How to combine more than two partitions on a disk into one partition

Note: If a recovery partition or OEM partition exists in the computer’s disk management, modifying the recovery partition may disable system restore. It is recommended to back up your disk by cloning it to another disk using IM-Magic Partition Resizer before proceeding with the merge.

Main Steps:

  • 1. Right-click a partition in Partition Resizer and choose the option "Merge Partition".
  • 2. Select two adjacent volumes to merge.
  • 3. Repeat the above steps until all partitions are combined into one.
  • 4. Click APPLY CHANGES in the software to apply all the previous steps.

If a recovery partition exists on your disk between two volumes or after the C drive, the steps may vary slightly:

  • 1. Right-click a partition in Partition Resizer and choose the option "Merge Partition".
  • 2. Select two adjacent volumes to merge.
  • 3. Repeat the above steps to combine as many partitions as possible.
  • 4. Merge the recovery partition into a drive and continue merging the partitions into one C drive.
  • 5. Click APPLY CHANGES in the software to apply all the previous steps.

If you want to delete the recovery partition, follow these modified steps:

  • 1. Right-click a partition in Partition Resizer and choose the option "Merge Partition".
  • 2. Select two adjacent volumes to merge.
  • 3. Repeat the above steps to combine as many partitions as possible.
  • 4. Right-click the recovery partition in the software and choose the option "Delete Partition" to remove it.
  • 5. The recovery partition will become unallocated space on the disk. Right-click an adjacent partition next to the unallocated space, select the "Resize/Move Partition" option, and drag the border to claim the unallocated space.
  • 6. Continue merging the remaining partitions into one.
  • 7. Click APPLY CHANGES in the software to apply all the previous steps.
